Jo Reyes

Chief Operating Officer

Jo has a long history of working on the business and human rights agenda with companies and was part of the first-ever such effort, the Business Leaders Initiative on Human Rights (BLIHR). She has been with GBI since it was founded in 2009.

Jo leads on communications in addition to being involved across the full range of our programmatic, governance and operational work. She regularly represents the initiative at international events and manages key relationships with GBI’s networks around the world. With a background of work and study in law and politics, Jo has also undertaken academic studies in human rights, including pursuing doctoral studies focused on mental health and remedy in the context of business and human rights and holding an MA (Dist) in Theory and Practice of Human Rights, both through the world-renowned Human Rights Centre in the School of Law, University of Essex. In addition to mental health, she has an interest in conflict and post-conflict human rights responsibilities of corporations and is currently researching the nexus between business and human rights and international space law and policy.
