Gerald Pachoud

Senior Advisor

Gerald is an experienced policy expert with a strong history of working in international affairs. As an advisor to GBI, he brings a long background in Sustainable Development, Corporate Social Responsibility, Government, International Relations, and Strategy Development.Gerald specialises in corporate responsibility and public policy challenges and opportunities, working with business, governments, international organisations and civil society. He formerly worked on formulating strategy and advising the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Strategic Planning on UN engagement with external actors, in particular the private sector, identifying strategic opportunities to foster specific partnerships, in particular in the field of human security, human rights, conflict prevention, and peacebuilding. As Senior Policy Advisor, he led strategy development on the role of the private sector in peacebuilding and advised the UN Assistant Secretary-General for Peacebuilding Support. 

Gerald also worked as Special Advisor to John Ruggie, the SRSG on Business and Human Rights, on conceptual, political and strategic aspects of his mandate, in particular developing and planning the SRSG’s substantive and strategic vision as well as being closely involved in the development of the “protect, respect and remedy” framework and the drafting of the UN Guiding Principles on business and human rights. Gerald holds a master’s degree focused on International Law from the Graduate Institute of International Studies. 

He is the managing partner of Pluto & Associates, where he focusses on global public policy and corporate responsibility, working with a network of experts and like-minded public and private organisations.
