As an Associate at GBI, Josephine supports the planning, delivery, and expansion of GBI's Peer Learning, External Engagement and Informing Policy work. She is responsible for managing the GBI Legal and Policy Tracker, a member resource that provides up-to-date information on the latest legal and policy developments in the business and human rights and responsible business space.  

Josephine also leads GBI’s work in the intersection of business, human rights, and artificial intelligence (AI). She has a specialised interest in the use of AI to support human rights and environmental due diligence. 

She has international professional experience in the field of human rights across the private sector (TotalEnergies), the UN system (OHCHR), and human rights and humanitarian NGOs (ACTED and Humanium). During her time at TotalEnergies, she worked on issues related to security and human rights. She subsequently spent 2 years as an independent business and human rights consultant, where she worked on various projects related to due diligence and stakeholder engagement.

Josephine holds a Masters in Human Rights and Humanitarian Intervention with a specialisation in African Studies and Project Management from Sciences Po Paris, and a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Kent. Josephine has strong ties to East Africa and is passionate about business and human rights issues in the region.
