On 11 May 2016, GBI Director Catie Shavin, attended a Pan-European multi-stakeholder conference on advancing the implementation of the business and human rights agenda of the European Union and its member states. Catie joined representatives from government and civil society on the panel of a parallel session entitled ‘National Action Plans: Evaluating progress and charting next steps in Europe’. Panellists shared perspectives on the importance of strong state engagement with the business and human rights agenda, including through the development and implementation of National Action Plans on business and human rights (NAPs). The panel also discussed proposals on how to improve the impact of NAPs, including through the implementation of peer review processes.
