On Wednesday 26th February 2014, GBI Executive Director, Mark Hodge, addressed 25 participants on the subject of business and human rights in a keynote speech at the Financial Club in Jakarta, Indonesia.
After delivering the speech, Mark Hodge participated in a panel discussion with Pak Marzuki Darusman, Executive Director of the ASEAN Human Rights Resource Centre and James Kallman, President of Mazars. The panel discussion was chaired by Pak Makarim Wibisono, and was followed by a question and answer session with participants.
The two-hour session focused on the background and significance of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, the current state of play of business and human rights in Indonesia and wider ASEAN region, and the importance leadership from both states and businesses on the UN Guiding Principles. GBI and other organisations are currently planning a series of activities to engage business leaders in Indonesia during and beyond 2014.
